Valentines Day and Chinese New Year are also coming up so we will be planning activities for  these occasions.

Hopefully when the weather drys up we will be able to take the children outdoors for some fun with the torches, this is a great way  for the children to explore the church grounds and get a chance to have outdoor play.

This term our snack menu will consist of Soup, Beans on Toast and pasta as well as our toast options Butter, Jam, Banana, Cheese and Chocolate Spread.

Our AGM has been arranged for Wednesday 24th January, 6.30pm at Merrylea Parish Church (Fun Lodge Premises)

We hope for a good turnout and are always looking for more parents/carers to become board members. If you would like to know more about the AGM or about what it entails being a board member then please ask a member of staff or email funlodge@virginmedia.com we hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Fun Lodge

Winter 2017

Fun Lodge has had an action packed few months with lots going on for the children.

Staff have undertaken training with SAIA (Scottish Attachment in Action), have attended the SOSCN information session regarding the new care standards and have regularly been attending the Glasgow South East forum meetings.

Children enjoyed a Halloween party wearing fancy dress and taking part in themed games. The primary 6 and 7 children have completed the Young Leader Play Training. The children took part in a dance workshop and 2 sports workshops from UTD sports. On Tuesday 12th December we had the Shoogalie Road Productions out to perform Beauty and the Beast Pantomime for all the children. Everyone who attended had an excellent time and we raised money for Cash for Kids by asking all the children to wear festive tops and the parents made donations to this great cause.

We have also been celebrating Chanukah by lighting the Chanukiah and eating Doughnuts as part of our traditional Chanukah treat.

The children have been making festive crafts during all of this and we will have some seasonal dvd’s playing throughout the final week of term.

School closes at 2.30pm on Wednesday 20th December and Fun Lodge will collect from the schools at this time.

We are also offering a full day service on Thursday 21st December from 8am – 6pm.

The staff at Fun Lodge would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays and we look forward to seeing everyone in the new year.

Care Inspectorate Updated Concerns and Complaints Procedure

Attached below is the updated Concerns and Complaints procedure.

This has been effective from 1st November 2017.

Listed below are the changes that were made –
– Our definition of complaint has changed to ensure it is about care and support.
– We have introduced a triage team of inspectors who contact complainants within 48 hours to listen to their concern, risk assess the complaint and identify the best method to resolve the concern.
– There are different methods of resolving complaints – this includes noting some complaints as intelligence, frontline resolution of the complaint with the complained against and provider resolution where we refer the complaint to the service to resolve. Complaints assessed as high risk will be investigated by the Care Inspectorate.
– We have introduced a post investigation review process – both the complainant and the complained against will be able to ask for a post investigation review of the complaint outcome.

If you have any queries relating to this please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff or contact the Care Inspectorate directly.

New Term

We have had a busy couple of months at Fun Lodge with lots going on.

W have just finished another successful Holiday Club with 26 children attending throughout the week. We had trips to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Victoria Park as well as lots of fun activities in and around the church.

We have started our Young Leaders Play Training, we have had 2 sessions so far with a further 5 to follow, there is 9 children participating in this and so far all seem to have been enjoying the sessions.

We had a sports workshop from UTD Sports, this was based around Handball and all the children learned the rules of the game and got the chance to put the skills they had learned into practice with some mini games. UTD Sports will be back with us on Thursday 2nd November for a Dance Workshop and then again on the 7th November for another Sports Workshop.

Soup is back on the snack menu and the children have been enjoying going into the kitchen to make this. We serve soup for snack the day after the children have made it.

Susan has been making Slime with some of the children over the past 2 weeks and they are all loving it, the children that haven’t had an opportunity yet are desperate to make it and hopefully we can continue this throughout the coming weeks.

Our Halloween Party will be on Tuesday the 31st October and fancy dress is optional, if you attend on a Tuesday then we look forward to having some extra fun on that day.

As always if you have any queries about anything that happens at Fun Lodge please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff.

Kind Regards
